I'm looking forward to the day when the IRS allows us to send a PDF file electronically. After filling out the spreadsheet I can copy it into the tax forms in PDF format and print them out and mail them. Since I've quit using TurboTax I've gone back to the spreadsheet method again. Look it up on the current tax table to find out how much I owe and I was done. Then all I had to do was fill in the input fields and let the spreadsheet show me my taxable income. Terms and conditions may vary and are subject to change without notice. I marked my input fields with a different background color so it was easy to find them. Tax Return Access: Included with all TurboTax Free Edition, Deluxe, Premier, Self-Employed, Premium, TurboTax Live, TurboTax Live Full Service customers and access to up to the prior seven years of tax returns we have on file for you is available through. It took awhile to do the changes but there weren't very many of them and it gave me a chance to double-check my math. I could ignore all of the lines on the tax form that didn't apply to me. by Intuit 4,491 PC Click to see price Mac Click to see price Old Version Intuit TurboTax Premier 2021, Federal and State Tax Return PC Download by Intuit 5,860 PC Click to see price TurboTax DLX Plus State 2021 by Intuit 184 DVD-ROM 2350 FREE delivery Thu, Jun 29 on 25 of items shipped by Amazon Only 1 left in stock - order soon. In the past some people have reported their free offer didn't show up till January. Scroll down to the bottom of the page and you should see your TurboTax offer whether it's free or a discount. To see if you are eligible, log into Fidelity with a PC browser and make sure you are on the Summary tab for 'All Accounts'. I can conform this is true as I see it and have already installed it. People started reporting on Bogleheads that the Fidelity TurboTax offer is showing up this morning. Though most will probably not be eligible if you don't qualify Fidelity offers a TT discount. I was hesitant to make this post but I know there are many new Fidelity users the past year who probably aren't aware of this perk. Maybe one of the CCRs here will chime in, but I bet they don't know the answer either. It's probably some complex algorithm that changes from year to year. Others have done this, getting different answers which don't always hold true. Please do not call into Fidelity asking about this as they are busy enough as it is.

It was quite remarkable how much detail we could get out of SD footage and even old tapes. The quality in some would not work on a Netflix show, so we were lucky that we had Topaz Video AI to upscale the clips. Most of the volcano clips that we got were quite old, noisy and handheld. We needed to have volcanoes, ash plumes, lightning and a bunch of cloud layers ready to go. We used our prep time to sort our asset library. We then finished all the simple ones quickly so we could plan our time for the hard ones and meet our deadlines. With this project, we decided that we needed to have a really simple and fast pipeline, so we started to organize the shots into easy and hard tasks. “Before, we all worked together on LazyTown, and there we often needed to deliver over 200 greenscreen shots per day, so we used that experience in Katla. “We were the vendor studio for the project, and even though we were only three artists we were really effective,” Arinbjarnarson notes. We wanted to put fans’ worries to bed by solving the big mystery of how Maz Kanata took possession of Luke’s lightsaber in The Force Awakens!” “I love the Jawa, too! They actually appear one more time in the film, at the Academy Fair by a stall selling things ‘Touched by Luke Skywalker.’ The Jawa tries to steal Luke’s lightsaber just before we see another hand grabbing it first. It was an absolute pleasure to work with Denis Lawson, and it didn’t take much convincing at all to play a slightly lighthearted and fun version of his character.” There is no shortage of Easter eggs, such as Jawa causing technological havoc in the opening. Instead, naturally, she is looking up to well-known heroes like Wedge Antilles. “Her mum taught her piloting skills, for example, the Ryloth Roll maneuver, which then helps Anni win the race, but Anni doesn’t value it when we meet her at the beginning of the story. “Anni and her mum come from a planet very very far away, from an unprivileged place, but Anni is an extremely talented pilot, the first one from her planet to be accepted to the prestigious Hanna City Flight Academy,” Osinska states. A big bow to our CG and VFX Supervisors, Ben Toogood and Bram Ttwheam, who married the stop-motion with CG so beautifully,” Osinska says.Īppearing on screens throughout the city promoting the family pilot race and his own merchandise is Rebel Alliance X-wing pilot Wedge Antilles, actually voiced by the original live-action actor, Denis Lawson. Lighting the 3D parts played a huge role in bringing together these two techniques this actually goes both for the sets in general but also the mouths, and our Lighting Lead, Tessa Mapp. “Usually, the foreground is physical, but the rest would be CG. Besides that, there were fireworks and lots of other atmospheres that made everything sit nicely together.” The set of city and school building were constructed entirely in 3D. We played with the visibility, color, lines, static, to make it work for our film and also within the Star Wars universe. The other visual effects were screens and holograms. It was an interesting challenge to then translate it into 3D, and we actually spent quite a bit of time on it to find that perfect look. “ Aurélien Predal created very cool 2D shapes for each ship that also reflected the character of their drivers. “I was keen for the look of the spaceships thrusters to be quite stylized and a mixture between 2D and 3D visual effect, a little bit comic, like Scott Pilgrim vs. And I’ve been told by Signe Tveitan, our wonderful 3D modeler, that we used Karma and Solaris to calculate how the light interacts with the surface.” Fun was had with the visual effects. “We used ZBrush for modeling and Maya for modeling and animation,” Osinska remarks, “Nuke for compositing and face tracking, Houdini for rendering. It was quite a process to find the right thing, and Steve tells me it ended up being a motorbike shock absorber cover that with a few tweaks worked out perfectly!” I remember multiple pipes and tubes being ordered in a search for the perfect part to create his concertina mid-section, as making this from scratch would have been really tricky. His head tilt also gave him that inquisitive dog-like expression. Z1 could also stretch out long which worked so well for his fall from the table in the opening sequence and later on when he is swinging from the spacetug. “He was fun to animate, too, with elements like the ears and legs folding in/out and the slinky body allowing for playful dips and dog-like movement while still retaining a very droid-like quality. As a huge Star Wars fan, he was keen to ensure that the final puppet would feel totally in keeping with the other astromechs, and Z1 really does,” Sitzia notes. “ Steve Cox developed and 3D printed the prototype for Z1 himself. There cannot be any Star Wars story without droids, and the faithful malfunctioning companion Z1 displays the characteristics of an accordion-expanding sausage dog. Ideally, an average down payment should be between 10% and 20% of the total cost of the new vehicle. The larger the down payment or trade in allowance, the less you will need to finance. If you are considering the purchased of a new car, truck, or SUV, there are a few financial points you need to consider first.Ī down payment, and/or a vehicle trade in, has a direct impact on the terms of an auto loan. Initial down payments, interest rates, and the life of the loan itself, all have a direct impact in the final total amount paid for a new vehicle. Navigating the world of auto loans can be tricky, and there are a few important factors to consider when financing a new car. For most of us, some form of financing will be necessary. Purchasing a new car can be an expensive proposition, and very few people are fortunate enough to be able to cover the entire cost of a new automobile out of pocket. Establishing a broad view of operating expenses and overall financing costs helps car-buyers choose between 3, 4, 5, 6, or 7-year financing options extended by car dealerships. Before moving forward with financing selections, buyers evaluate the costs of purchasing vehicles and keeping them on the road, accounting for myriad operational expenses and repayment alternatives. Loan-terms are offered for a range of repayment lengths, from a couple to several years, furnishing flexible financing options for diverse budgetary requirements. Unless they can be made out of pocket, funding major purchases requires consumers to borrow money, so today's automotive lending market provides a wide variety of options for buyers to consider. In addition to determining the correct makes and models for their driving habits, financing concerns are pressing. If you include a search string with a space or other non alphanumeric text this can break the grep command syntax, to create a search string containing these you need to use quotes to contain the string. Also, if you don't quote the argument, and it contains any characters, the shell will expand the argument as a filename wildcard before passing them as arguments to grep. Search for a string that contains non alphanumeric text or spaces. grep “Steve ?” * Searching Subdirectories with grepģ. In this step we are searching for “Steve ?” which is contained in the test4 file. If you include a search string with a space or other non alphanumeric text this can break the grep command syntax, to create a search string containing these you need to use quotes to contain the string. Combine the -v and -i arguments to exclude all matching strings regardless of case. Note that again the results are case sensitive and therefore they include the line containing the capitalized Steve ? from test4. This argument is useful to dismiss occurrences of strings in logs or files when debugging an issue. This will return a list of every line from the test environment files that doesn’t contain the search string steve. Perform an inverted search using the -v argument. Let’s look at a couple of interesting examples.ġ. Like many Linux commands there are many useful additions and variants for the grep command. The output will differ depending on your machine, but you should be met with a wall of text. This will also list internal USB devices, such as laptop webcams. Use lsusb to list all of the USB devices attached to your machine. Using pipes we send the output of a command to grep and use it to search for patterns / keywords.Ģ. The strongest use case for grep is when it is paired with another command. This will return results from all four of the test files in the directory. Add the argument -i to make grep case insensitive. Note also that these results don’t contain the result from test4 as in its basic form the grep command is case sensitive. Notice that the returned results include the result from test3 where the search string steve is contained within Steven. Adding an asterisk forces grep to search all files within the current directory. Also notice that grep returns the complete line of text that contains the searched string. Notice that, with multiple search areas, the returned results are tagged with each filename from which the result is found. We can simply add a list of files to the grep command for it to search. Search for the same string in multiple files. Notice that the word steve is simply returned in red to indicate it has been found in the file. The search criteria is case sensitive so ensure that you're searching correctly. Search test1 for the string steve using grep. The grep command syntax is simply grep followed by any arguments, then the string we wish to search for and then finally the location in which to search.ġ. Let’s start using grep in its most basic form. For example when debugging an error in a log file. Searching a file for a specific string is extremely useful. Then press CTRL + X, then Y and Enter to save and exit. Note that in this file we are using a capital letter at the start of Steve. Finally edit test4 to complete our test environment. Similar to test1 we will add a list of names on separate lines but this list will include the name steven. this is a long line of test that contains the name steveħ. In test2 we will add a single longer line of test containing the name steve. After editing in nano press control x to exit, press y to confirm the save and then press enter. Note that in test1 none of the names contain capitals. Edit test1 using nano to contain the following names on separate lines. Create 4 files, test1, test2, test3 and test4. It is here a major difference with traditional feminism since it is not an order between men and women that is challenged but the whole order in the society, its foundation, understood as the binary distinction between male and female. The heterosexual society is thus responsible for oppressing, through taboos, the deviants. Any discourse that establishes the boundaries of the body serves the purpose of instating and naturalizing certain taboos regarding the appropriate limits, postures, and modes of exchange that define what it is that constitutes bodies” (p.2544). Butler quotes Mary Douglas’ Purity and danger who “suggests that the very contours of ‘the body’ are established through markings that seek to establish specific codes of cultural coherence. The oppression comes from the society as a whole based on the heterosexual norm, translated in daily acts and behaviors. Butler is here suggesting a new feminism, since the problem is not anymore the recurring inequalities that occur between men and women but the determination of who are men and who are women and the oversimplification of gender-identity implied in a masculine society.Ī new feminism is proposed as the real problem seems to be a masculine hegemony that perspires through social interactions and prevents people to perform, to express freely their chosen gender. In other words a society based on phallocentrism curbs, limits the freedom of those who intend to remove heterosexual boundaries. People participate to this promotion through their actsįirst, Butler explains that the restricted boundaries of our body are due to masculine hegemony and that such a dominant culture prevents the motion, the displacing of boundaries. A society that promotes masculine hegemony and based on phallocentrism a. The solution, according to Butler, would be to loosen identity/categories to broaden the margins of our society (II). In order to present Gender Trouble, we need to explain what Butler consider as the source of the problem affecting the deviants, the queer: a society promoting masculine hegemony and based on phallocentrism (I). In other words, is our identity a given or a performance? The question Butler asks is: “Does being a female constitute a “natural fact” or a cultural performance, or is “naturalness” constituted through discursively constrained performative acts that produce the body through and within the categories of sex?”. It is actually related to Nietzsche’s idea that there is no doer behind the deed: with Butler it is gender or sexuality that does not exist before it is performed in a social context. Rather, it is a matter of historical contingency that we see the body as we do”. Our pleasures, desires and pains do not emanate from a prediscursive body. Digeser confirms that, according to Butler, there exists no natural necessity to see bodies as ordered into distinct sexes: “whatever sense of giveness or facticity we may possess about our bodies is a matter of historically sedimented practices and performances. Therefore life is a succession of performances. This intent gives birth to a performance, seen by Butler as the moment where we decide to express our gender. Since it is an extension of our intention, our gender or what we express as sexual subject, is never fixed and can change over time. The emphasis Butler puts on the will, on the intention, is important as she is not only suggesting that our gender is built and not received at birth, but is also pointing out the plasticity of our gender. Gender can be defined as the way we express our sexuality for instance the way a female intends to express her sexuality will define her gender, and this can be also applied to any human being. While Simone de Beauvoir stated :‘one is not born, but rather becomes, a woman’ Butler’s thoughts on gender could be sum up by ‘:‘one is not born, but rather becomes, a gender’. Butler explores the way we shape our identity through social interactions. Gender Trouble: Feminism and the Subversion of Identity has been published in 1990.
